Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, I do not see where it allows for the installation with the Direction of Flow arrow reversed. There is a comment regarding vertical installation “• Advise when strainers are to be mounted in vertical piping so we can rotate the cover to position the blowoff at the lowest point.” , but that would suggest that the manufacturer would modify the devise accordingly. Just by looking at the cutaway diagram of the strainer, it becomes obvious that if the flow was reversed from normal, all debris would be piled up against the outside of the strainer, requiring the complete removal of the strainer to clean the piping. This would also mean that the devise is more likely to clog the flow-way completely, severely restricting flow through the device. If installed as designed, the debris is forced into the interior of the strainer away from the flow-way, thus allowing for the flushing operation to clean out the filter. I would still like to see information from the manufacturer specifically addressing installation with regards to the Direction of Flow arrow in relation to the design operation of the device.
