Rafael thanks for the email. I recommend that any further correspondence regarding the Meridian vehicular pavers be directed to Clay Barnett, the town’s engineer. My understanding is that the engineering firm of record for the Meridian Project submitted a vehicular paver to Clay Barnett initially – over a year ago I am guessing - which Clay approved. If the brick paver Clay approved was not available, then the project engineer should have brought this to Clay’s attention, so that he could request additional information from the project engineer to evaluate and approve. I am not sure how this materials submittal review and approval process got derailed and started coming through me via Mike Henjum and you, but this is irrelevant at this point. Clay is not satisfied with the performance of the vehicular paver on the Meridian project, and he is final word on approving any material used on Addison streets. I am not clear on the specific issues Clay has with the pavers, but I am sure he can provide any input you need to hopefully clear the matter up for all involved. Thank you. I'm just trying to help my contractor out as much as possible. I'm not quite clear as to why the Belden Regimental Red HV pavers are not approved. We used the same product at 2 Addison, submitted through Opus West and at the Allegro project. I hand carried the samples into your office and let you know they were the same pavers used at those projects. I carried those samples to you per Mike Henjum with Concrete Paver Systems. I confirmed to you that these were the same pavers used for HV at Allegro across the street. You indicated that since they were used at Allegro and 2 Addison, they will be approved for use at Meridian. That's the last I heard until now. I know Concrete Paver Systems hasn't been paid for their work since the installation in October of 2009. He has paid us in full. Per our phone conversation the other day, you seemed to remember these events. Not knowing what you know, concerning this situation, is there anything you can do to help get this put to bed? CPS is telling me they may have to pull the pavers and replace them. My question is...with what? The Belden pavers have been used on 2 other projects in the Town of Addison and meet all applicable ASTM standards (C-1272) for heavy vehicular pavers. I am currently waiting on a notarized letter from Belden stating this fact, if that would help ease any concerns the Town of Addison's may have. Please let me know if you have any input on this.
