I think Option 1 is probably the only advisable option, and it matches up with what you and Jerry had mentioned. Matt indicates he needs specific details from FNI for the change. I would be glad to provide you with a fee proposal for the design change if you would like. Please let me know how you would like to proceed with this. Thanks, Ron King, P.E. Continuous flow – water will run through the sample line continuously, therefore producing a reliable sample based on fresh water. 2. Non-freeze – the sample line cannot be allowed to freeze Given the above understanding, I see 3 options. All options would involve installation of a threaded plug in the location of the existing tap. - Option 1 – sample from the water service line in the break room. The analyzer and floor drain, currently located in the storage room would move to the break room. - Option 2 – tap the water main just outside the pier cap. Run the sample line up to the pier cap, then up and over the pier cap. Line would penetrate the pedestal above the pier cap, then continue in the finished floor and stub up at the current chlorine analyzer location. The portion of sample line located outside the pier cap would be copper and concrete encased. - Option 3 – tap the water main inside the valve vault and place the chlorine analyzer inside the vault. The sump pump would have to run continuously and I do not know if that is doable. These are just my thoughts. Specific details would need to be provided by F&N. I do not recall discussing the wind turbine issue mentioned below. What is the timing of the Town’s visit? We are currently working with the subcontractor to finalize scope and are pushing to have this complete as soon as possible. The schedule impact all depends on timing of visit. Give me a call if needed. Regards, Matthew Wiatrek From: Ron King [mailto:RGK@freese.com] Sent: Friday, April 01, 2011 11:59 AM To: Wiatrek, Matt Cc: Ron King Subject: Chlorine analyzer tap Matt: Ron Mathis expressed concern over the chlorine analyzer sample tap again being under the slab, and the Town would like to get something from you to show what you would propose in lieu of this. Please provide something on this. Here are a couple of items that the Town said they would be comfortable with: 1. Plug the tap outlet that you already have ordered for the ductile iron pipe, and concrete encase 2. Sample from the water service line in the break room, and also go ahead and put the chlorine analyzer in the break room. One other item, as we discussed on the phone the other day, the Town is trying to get a site visit set up for the wind turbines at the Hess Building in Houston, and they don’t want y’all to order wind turbines until they have had this visit. Are you ok with holding off until they do this? Will it create any issues for your schedule? Thanks, Ron King, P.E.
