Ignacio,
That can be done, but you may want to discuss this with your client. Water bills include a monthly fee based on meter size as well as usage. Usually 6” meters are used in midrise office
buildings. I can’t say as I have ever seen one used for a residence.

The idea was to combine water and fire into one service line. Do they need to be separated?

Ignacio,
I am somewhat confused. Is it a domestic service or a fire service? Either way it must be metered. If it is a fire service it must have a double check detector assembly in lieu of
a double check valve assembly. If it is a domestic service, it is unlikely that anything larger than a 2” meter is required.
If you have any additional questions, please let me know.
Thanks,

Hi Clay,
I'm in the process of completing the utility plan for the Daseke home. Fire system is yet to be designed, but for starts I am going with a 6" service line (which is fairly large, but
I hesitate to go any smaller until a fire engineer determines what it needs to be). At this point, however, I would like to ask you if there is any particular requirement with installation
of domestic water service in combination with fire. Currently I call for 1. domestic service, 2. Reducer (meter), 3. double check valve, and backflow prevention device. Is there anything
else that I would need to add?
Thanks in advance,
Ignacio
