Nancy – In response to the question of what type of light fixtures are to be installed on Belt Line Road, please see John Schallert’s email which follows. The specific product that will be used is the Lumec Capella fixture. I have included a line drawing of the fixture from the contractor’s submittal below: Tom Kramer HNTB Corporation Urban Design + Planning From: John Schallert Sent: Monday, August 08, 2011 2:57 PM To: Tom Kramer Subject: RE: Addison Lighting and Landscape Updates Tom, The fixture we selected is not a flat glass fixture, per se. The fixture uses a flat glass design for smaller lamp sizes but the larger sizes have an envelope that requires a small bulge in the lens. Except for any small reflection off the lens itself the fixture should function the same as a flat glass fixture in that the lamp lighting element is above the bottom of the fixture and completely shielded by the fixture housing. John Schallert From: Tom Kramer Sent: Monday, August 08, 2011 2:16 PM To: John Schallert Subject: FW: Addison Lighting and Landscape Updates John – can you take a look at this email. I spoke with Nancy at the Town and she was interested in your input. What kind of lighting fixtures are to be installed on Belt Line? I don’t see it as a big issue from the Airport’s perspective … but on the other hand, I have heard from a lot of pilots about how hard it can be to pick out the Airport in the sea of lights at night. In light of the fact the military has expressed a certain degree of trepidation surrounding light pollution, I was curious if local airports thought the same about lighting and if the selection criteria for determining which light manufacturer to use for this project included flat lens, full cutoff fixtures to keep light downward directed and limiting distractions to pilots while in flight. Thanks in advance for any input you may have. - Michael Michael Branum | Aviation North Central Texas Council of Governments 616 Six Flags Drive | Arlington, TX 76011 (817) 704-5642| mbranum@nctcog.org P Please consider the environment before printing this email.
