Our goal for this connection is to complete any required testing at the time of the shut-down on Sunday as to avoid putting any businesses out of water service beyond that date. As discussed in the previous meeting, we have concern with how much line we would need to isolate & pressure test beyond our joints. This main is old and we don’t know if any of the existing line will be compromised by the test. We also don’t know if existing isolation valves on the line, especially the butterfly valve south of the connection, will be able to hold during such a test. The supplier for the RCCP fittings & weld service is telling us they typically only provide a “leak test” which is simply to put the line back in service under normal city pressure & check for any leaks. We propose this method along with providing a hydro test to the newly installed valves at the cross. Concerning water quality, it was discussed in the same meeting that we would super shock the system while still isolated, thoroughly flush the lines, and expect this would be enough to return the water to potable. Please confirm this is still the case. Soon as you have a moment today, please forward to me your comments & expectations for this process as soon as possible. FYI… I have updated the below schedule to correct the date for the week following the Sunday shut-down + moved the hydro / water quality testing to “UNKNOWN” date (until all above is confirmed) + ADDED Saturday to the schedule in the event we need this additional time to prep for the shut-down. I do need to make sure with you that Addison is in acceptance for us to possibly work Saturday, 11/14, if necessary. By Mid-day Friday, 11/13, we should know how the day will end and can notify David Wilde of our needs / intentions. Let me know if this is acceptable.
