Claire, The cross needs to be flange joint on all four sides. The valves need to be FLG X MJ and connected directly to the cross. If you have any questions, please let me know. They both feel the excavation area should not exceed beyond the South Sojourn curb line based on the current location of the existing valve. However, I agree there may need to be some preparation & warning to Eastbound traffic in the event our work does exceed North of the curb. Our barricade designer will provide signage for the Eastbound traffic warning of narrow lanes ahead with 100 LF of taper West of the intersection to allow vertical panels to be placed no greater than 1’ north of the south curb to just past the excavation area. Attached is the revised plan to show these changes. Our intention is to set up barricades Thursday morning per the attached plan. Concerning traffic control, the barricade plan does not include any flagmen. However, we will have personnel on site to continually monitor traffic flow. SCHEDULE: Thursday, 10/1/09 · 7am PRECONSTRUCTION MEETING at Rogers-O’Brien job trailer. All City personnel involved are invited to attend. · Barricade set up at 9am · Sawcut the area (apprx. 14’ into the street x no greater than 12’ wide) · Excavate & expose the existing water main tee & valve to verify the existing pipe location/type/size. · Material delivery to include (1) 16x10 C110 MJ Cross, (2) 16” MJ GV, (2) 10” MJ GV, (1) 12x10 C110 LEB Reducer, (2) 16” C110 MJ Long Sleeves, (1) 10” C110 MJ Long Sleeve, and mechanical joint restraint · If the existing pipe is determined to be material other than standard ductile iron or C900/C909 PVC pipe, it is likely we will not be able to have the necessary materials to proceed with the water connection on Saturday & all will be notified of this schedule change. · Once all is verified & able to proceed, we will plate the roadway with (2) 10’x20’ road plates & set aside barricades until Saturday. Friday, 10/2/09 · If excavations were delayed on the previous day, complete the task previously intended. Saturday, 10/3/09 – 8am to 7pm: · 8am Barricade set up, City valves to be isolated per Town of Addison personnel, remove (2) 10’x20’ road plates · Cut & de-water existing water line · Assembly/installation of pipe, valves, & fittings per Addison specification · Backfill & Compaction per Addison specification (RO: Lab is to be available on site for compaction testing) · Replace plates to cover excavated area · Lay down barricades pending the following week’s pavement replacement work · Completion of the above work not to exceed 7pm. Water main shut-down time expected is 6 hours. Week of 10/5/09: · Load & hydrostatic test the proposed/installed water line from new closed valves at Cross to capped pipe at East end per Town of Addison requirements. · Once pressure testing is approved, our intention is to provide pavement replacement in this excavated area earliest possible during this same week. Pavement replacement will be per the attached detail, modified to 3” asphalt overlay, per the Town of Addison request. The water will be off at precisely 8:00am. Please have the fittings ready to be placed at that time. Ideally, we would like to see the traffic control installed today. By tomorrow or Friday at the latest, the existing tee should be exposed. Do you have an estimate of the amount of time involved in the installation? With TCA out of school for the remainder of the week and Two Rows temporarily out of business, it is imperative that we complete this work this weekend. Based on the current design, attached is our proposed barricade plan as needed for traffic control at this intersection. Please review this & let us know if acceptable or if changes will be required. Also, we talked today about the possibility of making these connections this weekend. In the event it is approved, I have made arrangements for the material & barricades needed at the water connections to arrive at the site Friday. If it is at all possible to confirm whether acceptable to proceed with the work this weekend by the end of Wednesday, 9/30, it would be greatly appreciated. We will need enough time to confirm suppliers on call, crew overtime is minimized, & field management is available. Thank you. Please call me if you have any questions or concerns.
