Hi Dave, Thanks for the reply. You are correct that depending on the usage a IRRLG customer may pay less than a COMLG with sewer. However, I think for this meter and in the future we need to set up the meters based on their current usage type. The ordinance states the following on what qualifies as an irrigation user: "Sprinkler large classification: Accounts which have meters two inches or greater in size and have been established for the sole purpose of providing water for irrigation of lawns and landscaped areas. " Based on this and that the meter is being used for domestic purposes, I think we need to classify it as a COMLG. Because they have a septic tank we will waive the sewer charge as we do with our other septic customers. If it does in fact become an City irrigation meter, we will make necessary changes at that time in the billing system. Thanks again for your insight. I appreciate your patience as we try to coordinate processes across 3 departments. Please let us know if we can help with anything. Roller Cc: Holly Wilburn; Clay Barnett; Phillip Kagarice Subject: RE: Meter for Construction Trailer: 3958 Vitruvian Way The reasons I indicated that I thought it should be an irrigation account are: 1. There is no sewer to connect to even if we wanted to make them. 2. As you know, the billing difference between domestic (Commercial large, with sewer) and irrigation large would be $127.40 savings to the customer. ( If sewer charges are waived, that would be an additional benefit to the customer of $34.85 over against the irrigation large charges.) I thought it would be easier to just bill it straight irrigation large rather than manipulate the domestic billing, but you know better than I do about that. 3. This is not a permanent connection, since the meter will eventually be a City irrigation meter, and the billing codes would not have to be changed later if it were set up as irrigation now. I am sorry if I assume too much. Let me know how you all decide to handle these situations in the future. David E. We are still having some issues come up on this particular meter that maybe reflect a needed process change. On this meter the inspection form states it is an Irrigation type meter. However the meter card from Utilities shows it to be a Domestic service. Per the customer this will service a construction trailer. My thoughts on this: 1. For a construction trailer I believe this should be set up as a Domestic type water meter. We can work on possibly waiving the sewer charges if they have a septic system, but this is a Domestic connection. This should help the customer because they pay a premium charge for Irrigation water usage. 2. In regards to septic, I know I have worked with Clay on "exempting" a couple construction trailers from sewer charges since they are on septic. The preference from Finance however, is if there is a permanent connection being installed ideally they would also be connected to the sewer system. That will simplify billing records and reduce the number of septic tanks. I would appreciate any insight from Public Works or Utilities on this particular meter, and if in the future how we should handle these. Thanks for your help! Roller Subject: Meter for Contruction Trailer: 3958 Vitruvian Way Katie, The first attachment is the inspection form stating this is a 2" irrigation meter. The meter card from Public Works states that meter is a 2" domestic and was verified by Matt out in the field. Jennifer with North Texas Contracting to state that they would be tanking the sewage when she originally came up here. Can you please give me direction on how we should go forward with setting this meter up on account 386701?
