Clay, We can compromise on this issue in an effort to get where we can all agree. I know how important this is to the City. I cut all the funds for the existing utilities and the gas station out. Based on our estimated and documented production on the job we need to finish the sewer in 3 days to be under budget. By adding the Spring Valley crossing we believe the best case duration is 6 days from start to finish with 4 days being in the road just because we go lane by lane. I have only left 3 days for spring valley, the remobilization and the added cost for trench repair since the width is so narrow and its in a major street done lane by lane. This is almost 50 % of what the bore would have cost and our original pricing so the City and UDR are getting a good deal and meeting the deadline. I also assume the CO will add the CTB encasement per the contract unit. Please review and let us know. This is the cheapest we can go without losing money on this change. Please let me know. Little; Nick Jacob; anord; mikesr@ntexcon.com; Jennifer Haynes; 'Bruce Dunne'; Andrew Rolph; Nancy Cline Subject: RE: Revised Sewer Pricing Zach, I concur with Bruce that the sewer across Spring Valley is more difficult and will result in extra costs and the Town is fine with that. However, the sewer south of Spring Valley is no different than what was placed in the rest of Vitruvian. The gas station and canopy will be demolished immediately following the installation of the sewer line, so destroying it early should not be a concern. Also, the only lines that run to the building on the side the sewer line is coming from is the emergency shutoff for the pumps. The trench can be seen in the parking lot. Power has been killed, so this also will not be an issue. Please consider installing the sewer up to Spring Valley for the price that is in the contract as we discussed a few weeks ago. If this is not going to happen, please let me know ASAP. Thanks, Clay Barnett, P.E. As of right now, I have trucks set up to mobilize my crew and equipment… If I don’t hear anything back by 2 pm I will have to cancel the haul trucks so I don’t incur unnecessary costs. I know there is a lot of pressure from the school district to have this work complete by the 1st so please let me know a.s.a.p. Thanks, Andrew D. Rolph North Texas Contracting 4999 Keller Haslet Rd. The sewer that runs between the canopy and the building will be extremely difficult as to not damage existing items and avoid obstructions. It is also anticipated that the entire area around the tanks will be pea gravel and subject to sloughing, etc… See if this is more reasonable and let us know. We are hesitant to believe that there will only be one telephone crossing through the parking lot, but we’ll see. What I am saying is (in my opinion) the sewer work in Vitruvian Way and across the Gas Station property (with the only utility crossing in this area being a underground telephone line 5’ above the sewer line) is no different than what you installed previously. ________________________________ From: Zach Fusilier [mailto:zfusilier@ntexcon.com] Sent: Tuesday, April 20, 2010 8:26 AM To: Bruce Dunne Cc: 'Eric T. It will take 4-5 days to install a few hundred feet through the gas station and across spring valley. We cannot do the sewer across spring valley while crossing 4-5 major utilities for the same prices we have in place for sewer down a closed side of Vitruvian. We priced Vitruvian sewer and on many days laid 150-250 LF per day. We will spend a minimum of 3 days in Spring Valley to lay 75 LF. It is also important for everyone to remember that this was originally to be bored. I solicited seven subcontractor’s to price the bore and the lowest out of the 5 that bid was $ 325 / LF no including bore pits. This would have been a $ 30,000 addition on top of the sewer costs. The City and UDR is not only saving money by open cutting but they are also getting the sewer I by the end of the month. This being factored along with the savings from the original bore installation I hope will prove reasonable. I also do not understand your request for additional compensation merely for utility crossing and for gas station crossing. Would you explain your reasoning? Clay and Eric – What are your thoughts regarding this additional request. ________________________________ From: Zach Fusilier [mailto:zfusilier@ntexcon.com] Sent: Tuesday, April 20, 2010 7:05 AM To: Bruce Dunne Cc: 'Eric T. Please let us know if approved so we can begin this morning or make arrangements to work on the under drain instead that I believe is approved. Also, can you verify that CO # 6 will be approved soon as to allow for April billing on the items we are completing. Can you update us on the retaining wall approval as well since we can begin this soon if approved.
