Eric, Dave Wilde informed me that he witnessed the drilling of the street light located at STA 11+85. He stated that the contractor was concerned that he hit a water line because the hole filled so quickly with water. Dave told the contractor that there were no waterlines in the area. However, this does add credence to the town’s concern that there is groundwater flowing under Vitruvian Way. Additionally, the street light at STA 11+85 is approximately 130 feet uphill of the location where the pump is located, which further indicates that the ditch that Andres constructed is not the cause of the groundwater. I have asked Wade to observe the rest of the street light borings and report findings of groundwater levels. If we find additional areas where there is groundwater, the subsurface drain may need to be extended. Conversely in areas where we do not hit water in the street light foundation borings, we can remove the subsurface drain. Please let me know if you have any concerns with this approach.
