Response to RFI No. 13 As of 30-Jun-2009 5:20 PM CT Vitruvian Infrastructure Phase 1B 4010 Marsh Lane Addison, Texas 75001 Project Number: 1308B Status: Complete Subject Asphalt Connector road (permanent) Reason Code None Question The permanent asphalt connector road as shown on sheet 7 of the phasing plan and sheet 24 of the paving plan shows to have 6" of lime stabilized under 4" of flexible base. With this being such a small area (298 SY), could we use flexible base in lou of lime stabilized if proctors and densities are taken? Please advise if this would be acceptable for this particular asphalt connector road. Proposed Solution NTC proposed to use flexible base in lou of lime stabilized for the asphalt connector road by the Garden Oak Apartments. Attached Files (none) Section: 2 - Sitework Int. We do need to include reducing the quantity of lime stabilization in the change order by this area (298 sy). That small connector road in on private property and may be there for some time. We do not want to reduce the quality of the section just for convenience. The cost of substituting 4" of flexible base for the lime stabilization is very small and is more convenient. Remove the lime and add the additional flex base or just remove the lime? I also think that 10" of flex base under what is essentially a driveway for a parking lot seems a bit excessive. It is such a small area that it matters not. If North Texas just wants to use the 4" of additional flex base in lieu of the lime and not increase quantities, I am fine with that as well.
