Response to RFI No. 30 As of 6-Nov-2009 11:24 AM CT Vitruvian Infrastructure Phase 1B 4010 Marsh Lane Addison, Texas 75001 Project Number: 1308B Status: Outstanding Subject Phase 2 paving near future Bella Lane Reason Code None Question Around station 28+67.64, there is a slight discrepency between our proposed pavement grade and the actual existing. The discrepency is very small, but it is worthy of a second look as we are planning to pave very soon, weather permitting. Please advise on adjusting the following grades to better match existing pavement. The plan grade at 28+67.64 RT = 569.43 at the gutter The actual gutter elevation is 569.82 (+0.39') The plan grade at 28+67.64 LT = 569.87 at the gutter The actual gutter elevation is 570.05 (+0.18') Proposed Solution Adjust grade to better match existing pavement and avoid a potentially steep incline at the east end of Vitruvian Way. Yes History (Chronological Order) Type Response Billable n/a Memo Andrew, I do not follow the stations and elevations you provided. We have rechecked the design intent and do not see any reason to adjust the grade. The proposed grade is intended to be a little lower than the existing grade. Asphalt pavement areas are shown for transition. Please refer to sheet 22 of the the plans which contains the following: LEFT - End of Concrete Pavement, Begin Asphalt Pavement, Sta 28+35.16, 33.5' Lt, Top of Pavement=568.25 -- End Asphalt Pavement, Match Existing, Sta 28+95.16, 36' Lt, Top of pavement= 570.75 -- The match existing grade you provided (28' before this station) is consistent with our surveyed grade. This results in a 3.5% grade through the transition with 1.1% grade breaks on each side. We believe you can construct this transition in an acceptable manor. RIGHT - End of Concrete Pavement, Begin Asphalt Pavement, Sta 28+40.98, 33.5' Rt, Top of Pavement=568.79 -- End Asphalt Pavement, Match Existing Pavement, Sta 28+77.43, 33.5' Rt, Top of Pavement=570.26 -- The match existing pavement grade you provided (10' before this station) is consistent with our surveyed grade. This transition is a little shorter because of the existing driveway to the Lemons Property. This results in a 4.0% grade through the transition with 1.6% grade breaks on each side. We believe you can construct this transition in an acceptable manor. Vitruvian Way is planned for extension in the not to distant future which will eliminate these transitions. Please let me know if you still have any concerns. I would be happy to meet you at the site.
