Response to RFI No. 36 As of 1-Apr-2010 3:11 PM CT Vitruvian Infrastructure Phase 1B 4010 Marsh Lane Addison, Texas 75001 Project Number: 1308B Status: Outstanding Overdue Subject Phase 3 paving subgrade concerns with unknown source of water infiltration Reason Code None Question There is an unknown source of water infiltrating in the sub-grade area for phase 3 paving from around station 9+50 to 11+00 +/-. The field adjacent to the Andres and UDR job trailers is where we believe this water is filtering under. This is the piece of land that was recently landscaped with trees and irrigation adjacent to Talisker Apartments. NTC/UDR have currently set up sump pumps to allow this area to be worked, but is concerned with permanent concrete subgrade integrity and quality longevity. Please advise. Also, please let us know if we are to proceed with subgrade prep and phase 3 paving as we are very tight on time for this project. Proposed Solution NTC recommends installing an underdrain (filter fabic embedded underdrain HDPE pipe) or drop structure to effectively tie into the newly installed 24" line SD-D4. Yes History (Chronological Order) Type Routed Billable n/a Memo Wade, NTC has priced the subsurface drains and the 24X24 area inlet(shown on attached drawing), but stated the pricing was high because of the requirement for full depth rock backfill on the subsurface drainage. As I understand it, we are currently waiting on Bill to address the depth of the pipe and the type of backfill to be required. I do not have a copy of the city's standard design on the subsurface drainage to attach to this RFI response. We need to roll with this fairly quickly. Please verify the design.
