Clay/Tom, FYI - we have been given permission to install a temporary low water crossing in Reach 3 and then demo the existing TxDOT bridge. NTC is working on a final design for the box culvert bridge which I will share with all of you just as soon as I get it. They are also working on a installation price for this as well. Thanks and have a great and safe Thanksgiving. We all think the plan helps further protect the aquatic environment. You are hereby authorized to remove the TXDOT bridge per your plan listed below, within your existing NW39. Per this discussion, please see the attached conceptual sketches for this proposed crossing. The contractor is currently working on a more complete design for your review and approval. Please also see the attached "Impacts to the Waters of The US" table that shows the current impact at 0.40 acres. This temporary box culvert will add 0.04 acres of impact to this which I believe does not exceed the allowable impact under our current Nationwide 39 Permit. Also, please note that because of the Thanksgiving holiday, the weekly report will be issued to you on Monday, November 29th. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns and again, thank you for your time today. Eric -----Original Message----- From: Eric T. Unfortunately, this bridge is currently our only access to the southern side of the creek and the original plan was to leave it in place until the new bridge at Ponte was complete. This plan leaves some sections of soil nail wall and Island #2 undone until the March 2011. We believe that it would benefit us and help better protect the waters of the US by removing this bridge and completing all the work that goes in its current location now instead of waiting several more months. We can facilitate our access to the southern side by installing a temporary box culvert crossing just inside Reach 3. Please see the attached sketch for a general layout of the work I am talking about. Because this is a difficult issue to discuss via email or over the phone, we request meeting onsite where we can walk the area and address any concerns you may have with this solution. We would like to have this meeting as early as Monday afternoon if your schedule allows. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
