I agree with Items 1 & 4.

 

On Item 2, Bid Item 3 is for the maintenance of the erosion control measures that were identified in the plans and specifications.  This would include the new construction entrance shown
in the plans (maintenance of the existing construction entrance is a separate bid item), silt fence shown on the plans (maintenance of the existing silt fence is a separate bid item)
and erosion control blanket shown on the plans.  Since this is a lump sum bid item, then these items must be maintained throughout the project for this price regardless of whether the
actual cost is less than or in excess of the bid price.  For example, if the silt fence shown on the plans needs to be moved for construction or is destroyed by a flood the cost would
be covered under this lump sum item.  This is similar to traffic control.  When the lanes are shifted the signage relocation is generally covered under the traffic control item.  Since
a rock check dam was not included in the bid package, it would be an add to the contract and should be included in the change order.  Please be sure that the wording includes maintenance
as well.  This would insure that if it gets clogged or disappears again, it would be replaced at the contractor’s expense.

 

On Item 3, please work with Zach to resolve this.

 

I need the change order today if we are going to get it on the agenda for October 26.

Here is what I have right now if you want to start reviewing too.

 

1.       Pier quantities, drip zone boxes, misc elect and manhole adjustment appear to be ok to me.

2.       Rock Check Dam – I think this should be covered in the SWPPP line item and if there is an overrun, we can address then.

3.       Steel Revisions – don’t see where we got a credit back for the welded connections shown in the original plans.

4.       Brick Ledge – I’m not sure why this was added. The grotto fountain has a stone veneer that does not require a brick ledge. We should review deleting this.
