Tom, Just a reminder, we will need the pricing items that Todd mentioned at the meeting yesterday before we can finalize the price of all the changes. Also, I believe that Tom Lamberth was going to talk to Bruce about his projected engineering budget as well. Thanks, Clay Barnett, P.E. Because of this we decided to begin excavation work in this area yesterday. While the work area is dewatered and isolated from the active low flow stream via the pumping of the stream capacity around the work area down to the filtration basin located in Reach 1, it would make sense to complete all the work in waters of the U.S. inside Reach 3 at one time, including removal of the concrete channel bottom and installation of the wall, so that the area does not have to be accessed for construction work in multiple stages. Another benefit to performing all the excavation work at one time is that we may be able to take several days off of the total duration of the work in Reach 3, further reducing the exposure the creek bottom will have. Otherwise we will need to excavate down to the level of the existing concrete channel bottom, then excavate the wall section down to the proposed bottom of wall elevation, bring in a drill rig to drill the wall piers, form and pour the wall, wait up to 3 days to wreak the concrete forms, backfill the wall and then remove the concrete channel bottom and finally complete the excavation of the channel bottom to the proposed elevations. This sequence will cause us to re-access the area several times, possibly raising the risk of sedimentation in the stream if a rain event occurs. If you are in agreement and approve this change, I will modify and update the construction schedule and re-send to you. Also, please note that the contractor has confirmed that we should be able to complete the creek excavation and start wall construction by next by next week (pending the small chance of rain on Tuesday) if this is approved.
