It cannot be a tax receipt. It must be an original tax certificate. Information on obtaining the tax certificate is as follows: TAX CERTIFICATE CONTACTS Effective September 1, 1999, State Law requires that an original tax certificate from EACH taxing entity (city, county, school district and special taxing entity where applicable) with jurisdiction over that property be provided before a plat can be filed with the county. In most cases it takes 1 to 3 working days to obtain the tax certificates. Typically all tax certificates can be obtained at the Dallas County Records Building. In the event you cannot get your certificate at Dallas County Records, you will have to contact each taxing entity separately. The various taxing entities are listed below. The Tax Certificates DO NOT REQUIRE A RAISED SEAL, only an original signature and whatever stamp or seal the Tax office uses. Dallas County will keep the plat for 4 – 6 weeks.
