Clay, As we discussed a short time ago on the phone, the Town of Addison does not have another document to consider beyond the Texas Accessibility Standards (TAS) when determining the acceptability of openings in trench drain grates in sidewalks. We are proposing the use of a grate (Zurn type FG) that has slotted openings measuring 3/8" in by ~3" with the long dimension perpendicular to the predominant direction of traffic. While this meets the requirements of the TAS, the design team was concerned that the Town might use a more restrictive guideline. Having confirmed that the Town only uses the TAS for such an assessment, the design team will continue to propose the Zurn type FG grate. If we have misinterpreted your verbal comments regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to respond to us with corrections in the next 48 hours. Sincerely, Eric Christiansen Eric S.
