First of all, Icon made no such statement that Halff needed to accept the grading plan without change. Eric- you asked me to resend the proposed grading under Bella bridge which I did, and you asked the following question: Before you send the grading files, please consider the second attachment that shows the elevation of the bottom of the arches at Bella Lane. You will notice that the arches are anywhere from 3" to 1' below the proposed grading. What can be done to adjust the grading to give us some clearance below the arches? We can raise them up a little bit (perhaps 3"), but this won't solve the problem. Let me know what you determine. And I replied to you: After you have reviewed the proposed grading, let me know if you think item 3 below is still an issue. We have so many constraints that I think the proposed grading we have shown is our best option. As I stated, the grading we sent Halff was an “option”. Since Halff made no effort to attempt to grade the area under the bridge, we took the initiative and provided an “option” which we thought worked best for the park area. As the Engineer for the bridge and the areas below the bridge, Halff needs to prepare a plan, and submit that plan so that the Town and Icon can review and comment on the effects that it will have on the park. As for meeting, we are always available to meet, but don’t you think it would be best if you came up with a plan first, send to us to review, and then meet to discuss? ________________________________ From: Christiansen, Eric [mailto:echristiansen@halff.com] Sent: Wednesday, April 21, 2010 12:21 PM To: Barnett, Clay; Cline, Nancy S.; Bruce Dunne; Eric Little Subject: Vitruvian Park - Open Engineering Item Folks, At last week's meeting, I decided not to schedule a meeting for tomorrow morning, hoping we could wrap up the odds and ends via the phone and email. Unfortunately, we still have a grading issue at Bella that needs attention. Given the current grading plan and the distance the arches reach below the level of the bridge deck, the ends at three of the four arches will be buried in the dirt. The north end of the west arch is the only one currently above grade (see attached PDF for more info). We believe the arches all need to end above grade, which means the grading plan needs to change to make that happen. However, Icon has informed us that we need to accept the current plan without change. I propose we meet tomorrow morning to discuss this issue. Will you be able to attend? We can also show you what we're designing for the sidewalks at the south end of Ponte, since the Park drawings didn't define that very well. Eric Eric S.
