Already have. It came from Austin. From: Clay Barnett [mailto:cbarnett@addisontx.gov] Sent: Tuesday, March 22, 2011 04:31 PM To: Eric T. Little Cc: Tom Forrest Subject: FW: Lights on Pedestrian Bridge Eric, It appears that we need to modify the lights on the ped bridge. Could you discuss this with Austin? Thanks, Clay Barnett, P.E. Town Engineer Town of Addison 16801 Westgrove Drive Addison, TX 75001-2818 Office: (972) 450-2857 From: Christiansen, Eric [mailto:echristiansen@halff.com] Sent: Monday, March 21, 2011 6:10 PM To: Clay Barnett Subject: Lights on Pedestrian Bridge Clay, As I mentioned on the phone earlier today, there is an issue with the three (3) light poles/fixtures that will be installed on the pedestrian bridge. Specifically, the fixture at the middle of the bridge will be so close (3") to the top of the supporting truss that much of the light will be blocked from reaching the bridge deck. In order to solve this issue, we believe the best solution is to modify the top of the pole (see attached sketch) by extending the supporting arms approximately 10". This will allow the fixture to avoid any interference with the truss and illuminate more of the bridge deck. We believe this solution is preferred over using taller poles since the design intent was to use as short a pole as possible. For consistency, it is recommended that this modification be completed on each of the three (3) poles. It should be noted that there are two concerns associated with this change. First, while it has not been confirmed, it is likely that the proposed modification will void the warranty on the fixtures. The reason is that the wiring will likely have to be replaced to accommodate the change in the length of the supporting arm. Second, it is estimated that the changes will cost roughly $4,700 for all three (3) fixtures (including freight charges) to be modified. The modifications would take about two weeks to complete once the fixtures were delivered to the fabricator. Halff understands that the Town may have concerns beyond those described above. While we need to give the contractor some direction on this issue soon, we wanted to make sure the Town has a chance to comment beforehand. After you've had a chance to review this issue, please feel free to call me directly to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. Sincerely, Eric Eric S.
