Bird Bath Repairs Reason Code None Question On the Bella Lane bridge deck there is a low area (bird bath) on the East side of the deck along the T-401 rail where water collects. There are also bird baths on the downstream approaches for both Bella Lane and Ponte Avenue where the sidewalk widens out toward the centerline. Proposed Solution AB&R proposes to repair the bird baths according to TxDOT Item 429 "Concrete Structure Repair". On the Bella Lane bridge deck, we will sawcut 18" away from the T-401 rail, starting at the SEJ and go north 24 LF. The sawcut will be approximately 1" deep. We will then chip out the concrete to a depth of 1". Once the concrete is removed to a reasonably uniform depth, the area will be cleaned by water blasting. A Type V epoxy coat conforming to DMS-6100 will be applied as a bonding agent and to protect the reinforcing steel from corrosion. Cement mortar will be placed and graded in the manner shown on the attached sketches to facilitate draining the bridge deck. On the approach slabs, AB&R will make 1" deep sawcuts 4' away from the T-401 rail, 20' and 24' longitudinally on Bella Ln and Ponte Ave respectively. The area will be prepared and cement mortar will be placed in the same manner as above. Attached Files RFI 80 Attachment - Bird Bath Repairs.pdf Section: 3 - Concrete Int.
