Will it be acceptable to lower the SEJs 3/4" in order to accommodate this? Proposed Solution Attached Files (none) Section: 3 - Concrete Int. This means the bridge deck would be heavier than desired. In order to correct for this, the contractor is recommending that the SEJs be lowered about 3/4". While we believe this change is acceptable for the bridge, roadway geometry will also be affected, requiring your input. Do you see a problem changing the grades of the approaches to allow the 3/4" drop in the Begin Bridge and End Bridge elevations? Elevations E and G will now be 567.52 at Abutment 1 and 566.51 at Abutment 2. However, all other wingwall elevations will remain unchanged. The contractor will probably have to push over a few of the wU bars that extend upward out of the wingwalls near Elevations E and G in order to maintain a clear cover of 2". As a result of these changes, the sidewalk slopes will be different as well, but they still won't exceed 1.7%. The attached drawing shows many of the items that are changing by this RFI. It should be noted that the sidewalk transition zone has been redefined on this sheet to show where the thickness transitions from 6" on the approaches to 4" on the bridge. This zone has been lengthened slightly to avoid a temporary longitudinal slope of 5% which resulted from the elevation changes.
