Karl, If there is no cost difference, we would prefer Option 1. We also think it will be less expensive than the others, but that is just a guess. Thanks, Clay Barnett, P.E. Is one of these options more preferred than the other? Thanks, Karl From: Clay Barnett [mailto:cbarnett@addisontx.gov] Sent: Wednesday, December 30, 2009 8:39 AM To: Karl Prinz Cc: Nancy Cline; Jerry Davis; Robert Trevino; Lynn Chandler Subject: Backflow Device for the Fire Line Karl, At the site visit yesterday it was determined that a backflow device is needed on the fire line. This comment can be addressed by either: 1. Removing the combination meter that is currently on the fire service and replacing it with a double check detector apparatus. The meter on the device can be a Hersey or Neptune disc meter and shall have either a touch pad or radio read transmitter. If a radio read transmitter is decided upon, please contact Jerry Davis for specifics. 2. Placing a double check valve assembly on the fire line inside the building or exterior to the building in a new vault. In accordance with State regulations a design shall be submitted for the device by a licensed fire protection consultant. The device will need to be installed and the fire line looped prior to a CO being issued. I will let Building Inspection know that Public Works is clear with proceeding with a permit for the renovations of the natatorium. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
