He agreed that seeding and installing erosion control matting on the north slope is the thing to do. Expect Olden’s superintendent to contact you or your staff for access to look at the slope. With respect to the north RSA, there are still some areas of washout next to the concrete pilot channel where the sod failed to take hold. I believe there is a short window of opportunity here to get those areas addressed. What I think might work is to put sod on top of 4-6 inches of topsoil over whatever amount of fill may be needed … the key is to compact the fill and topsoil, staple the sod down good, and water it so it has a chance to get established. OHE (or maybe it was a sub) never did much to compact the side slopes of the RSA drainage channel, and I think that is a major factor in why it got washed out. That, and the sod died in those areas, from lack of water. Regardless, we need to get something done up there while it is still warm enough for something to grow. We are still within the warranty period, I believe. On the Million Air drainage channel, who is taking the lead to advise Olden that we want them to come back and address the disturbed areas on the north side of the channel? I think the strategy we discussed late last week is good, but has anyone followed up with Olden? Again, they disturbed the whole north side of the channel, and it won’t hold up unless we can stabilize the slope somehow, preferably by getting some grass to grow. We need to get on this pretty quickly. Regards, Joel Joel Jenkinson Director, Addison Airport main: (972) 392-4850 fax: (972) 788-9334
