Today the contractor encountered an 8 inch sanitary sewer force main while digging within the West Side hole drainage construction. The sanitary sewer line broke along a pipe joint causing the hole, that was isolated from the drainage outfall, to fill up. No waste from the sanitary sewer line ever made it into the storm drain system. According to the record drawings, the 8 inch sanitary sewer main went to the south of the existing sanitary sewer manhole that has been field verified. This 8 inch sanitary sewer is not the same 8 inch sanitary sewer line that was identified a couple of weeks ago by the contractor. The Town of Addison was notified immediately of the situation and switched the system over to a 12 inch line that ran parallel to the 8 inch line. The contractor is currently repairing the broken section and should have the fix completed within the next couple of hours. Tomorrow morning the water department will come out around 7:30am to test the sanitary sewer line repair for any leaks. As soon as the repair has been confirmed to contain no leaks the 8 inch pipe will be encased in concrete. The proposed 42 inch storm line pipe will have to be adjusted to allow proper clearance over the 8 inch sanitary sewer. If any additional information comes regarding this issue I will let everyone know as soon as possible. If you have any questions regarding this pipe encounter just let me know.
