Daniel, I believe I misspoke at the meeting on March 24. The DART rail line through Addison is planned as commuter rail with a “medium engine.” The controversy is that DART is stating that they cannot afford to build the rail line as light rail, but Dallas has objected to the use of diesel engines through their neighborhoods in North Dallas. The solution to the stalemate was that DART proposed a “medium engine” that does not run on electric or diesel even though no such engine currently exists. I am not sure if this is a feasible solution, but this is the current status. I know this makes it as clear as mud, but it is really the best answer I can give you in regards to the type of rail line that is planned for this system. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks, Clay Barnett, P.E. Town Engineer Town of Addison 16801 Westgrove Drive Addison, TX 75001-2818 Office: (972) 450-2857
