All: FYI, attached is Garver’s most recent estimate for cost of reconstructing the MALSR. Note that this does not include the in-pavement light stations, which were already included in the runway project: this includes the MALSR light stations beginning north of the runway end (1,000 feet north of the landing threshold) which includes all of the light towers. We still don’t understand how the construction cost could be $60K -$65K as previously suggested by the FAA technical staff. We think the cost of materials for cable, conduit and concrete are greater than that figure. It’s not clear to us if the FAA is providing the MG 20 – 40 structures. If those will be provided by the FAA, our estimate would be approximately $35,000 lower. We suggest using a funding budget of $334,000 for design and construction of the elevated MALSR. I should have it complete and emailed to you to tomorrow evening. Looks like the list she provided you with is all the FAA is going to commit to as far as MALSR replacement equipment is concerned. She is still working on obtaining the drwgs you requested so you can complete your cost estimation. She felt she could get the drwgs to you by the end of the week. Once you complete your cost estimate we will have to see if we will support funding this significant cost increase to the project.
