Mark, Per the attached, FAA has agreed to provide a new MALSR with a shelter (small pre-fabricated building) for the electronics, plus new REILs for Runway 33. The incremental cost for the MOA with FAA is about $75k; with our 10% share of that, I’d say the airport is getting the new MALSR equipment for about $7,500. That sounds like a deal to me. There will be some additional cost (as noted per previous e-mails) for construction / installation, but that will be fairly small in relation to the total project cost. I’m still not sure what happened to change FAA’s position from when we first started working on this project, but this is a great outcome for the airport. This is one item on the wish list we provided to Congressman Sessions’ office that we can now check off: it’s in the bag. Now we just have to hope that the existing MALSR keeps working for another 6-8 months. That one light tower looks like it may fall over any day now.
