Thanks Joel, I can always count on you to say a lot! Harry >>> "Jenkinson, Joel" 5/19/2011 >>> Harry, We have been hanging around 100,000 annual operations (down from about 135,000 pre-recession … hope to get back to that level next year?) and probably 95% or more of those originate from the east side of the airport, so call it (conservatively) 260 operations per day. In addition, there is a tremendous amount of aircraft towing on Alpha – our FBOs have relatively small ramps, everything gets towed elsewhere for parking – and a correspondingly large amount of fuel truck, tug, and operations/maintenance vehicle traffic on the service road immediately east of Twy Alpha. On the east side of the runway, we have nine (9) connector taxiways / holding positions between Twy Alpha and the runway and (depending on how you count) about 17 access points to Taxiway Alpha from the ramps. From the operational aspect alone, we will need someone with experience in this kind of environment. Add to that the experience with FAA asphalt specs and I think we have a slam-dunk case for requiring bidder pre-qualification. It worked well for us with the runway project and we still got very competitive bids.
