Joel: If you can confirm the exact aircraft model and landing and takeoff weights for this aircraft on this trip to Addison, we can perform a pavement strength calculation to determine if the runway can handle the aircraft. He is asking to go to 140,000 pounds, but I’m not clear whether that is take-off or landing weight. I’m also not clear whether the aircraft is a 727-200 or a 727-200 Advanced … the difference is pretty significant, because the Advanced has greater fuel capacity, an operating empty weight of 100,000 pounds, and a max gross take-off weight of 209,500 pounds. All 727 models have dual-wheel main gear, for which our published weight limitation is 100,000 pounds, although we do occasionally exceed that on a case-by-case basis. We have a published limit of 160,000 pounds for dual tandem gear, but with a restriction to 120,000 pounds because of the condition of the pavement. Jeff Carr says we have had 727s in here before (but not since I have been here … they are not as common as they were a few years ago). I think we would be OK, but I just wanted to hear some other opinions. I expect they will want a letter waiving the weight limit restriction up to 140,000 pounds, which would protect them from having to pay for repairs if they leave ruts in the pavement; we have provided letters for BBJs in the past, but I don’t think we’ve previously authorized above 120,000 pounds. Our questions for you are- 1. What is your expected landing weight? 2. What is your expected take off weight? The airport can at times can make decisions to exceed our posted weight limits and will do everything possible to accommodate your needs. Arrival date 4th July at 6 pm-Deaparting 8th July 10am. I note that the double wheel weight is 100,000 pounds. Questions: 1.Can a 727 operate into and out of Addison. Noise category is stage 3 with Valsan hush kit. 2. If so can we get a weight dispensation to 140,000 pounds. 3.Is there power in/out parking. 4.What would be the handling and parking costs for this period. We require no other services other than parking, and fuel. 5.Bill Tice or Engineer will be carrying out light maintenance during this period.
