Michael, Attached is an extremely crude sketch of the layout at Glenwood. What we have found is that the existing 3 inch comes off the 6 inch from a T pointed up vertically, placing the service in the sub-grade of the pavement. The proposed solution would be to remove the existing T and place a new 6x6 T with a 6 inch valve, a 4x6 reducer, a 4 inch valve, and 3 inch copper piping into the vault - raising the piping in the vault with sweat 90's. Both the 6 inch hydrant lead and the 3 inch copper will have to go under and/or over the Farmers Branch 12 inch. The new T should, if possible, be placed behind the new curb so that it could be accessed in the future without removing pavement. The existing meter vault and meter can remain in the same location, but the top of the vault will still require the Bilco door and adjustment to sidewalk grade. If anything else comes up, we can discuss/resolve in the field. Clay is OK with proceeding with this work and incorporating it into the change order. If you have any questions, please let Clay or me know. David E.
