I met with Chad Cooper on-site, and AT&T has come up with a plan to connect the two portions of good cable with a bore under the north side of the intersection from just east of the TC cabinet to just east of the fancy sidewalk on the NE corner. This will require a couple of bore pits that will need to be restored. He indicated that there would be direct bury splices, so there will be no additional boxes/vaults/hand-holes. He seemed very motivated to get this done and put it to rest. David E. As I’m sure you are aware, AT&T is claiming that their telephone line which feeds the Oncor Substation has been hit numerous times throughout the project and no one is taking responsibility. As Dave can attest, we hand dug around their line and only hit it once while removing the old 60-inch RCP line. AT&T came out and reported back to us that the line was old and dead. NTC and all of our subs have taken responsibility for all hit lines on this project and reported them as necessary. I have never seen a hit line report/invoice from AT&T so I don’t understand where these claims are originating. In the meantime, while AT&T determines what they are going to do with the line to the substation, we will not have telephone service to the irrigation system. Ron told me that the irrigation controllers can function as a standalone system for the time being until AT&T makes a decision. Seeing as we all know how long that process can take, Siberia and all, I would ask that the telephone control be suspended from our contract at this time. NTC and American will continue to work with the town and AT&T once a decision has been made. Let me know your thoughts on this.
