Clay, can you please call Chad Cooper and discuss this with him directly: (972) 234-7073 Parks Operations Manager Town of Addison Office: 972-450-2863 Fax: 972-450-2834 From: Clay Barnett Sent: Tuesday, August 16, 2011 8:08 AM To: Ron Lee Cc: Nancy Cline; Slade Strickland; David Wilde Subject: RE: Phone Lines Ron, Their line has been “cut” so many times because it is laying on the ground, which I believe is not even legal. It gets “cut” every time a car drives over it, DISD mowers hit it or so kids decide to use it for skip rope. I would advise informing them that they already ran the conduit to place the line into, it just needs to get done. You may also advise him that Public Works is holding all AT&T permits until this work is complete and that if he would like to discuss it to give me a call. Thanks, Clay Barnett, P.E. Town Engineer Town of Addison 16801 Westgrove Drive Addison, TX 75001-2818 Office: (972) 450-2857 From: Ron Lee Sent: Tuesday, August 16, 2011 7:52 AM To: Nancy Cline; Clay Barnett; Slade Strickland Subject: Phone Lines I spoke with Chad Cooper of AT&T this morning and the proposed phone source for both the Spring Valley and Bush Elementary School & Redding Trail comes from the existing pedestal at the SW corner of Greenhill’s property/SE corner of the DISD property and along the Spring Valley R.O.W. The cable that services this pedestal feeds from the west and per Chad, has been cut numerous times during the construction. He said that nobody is taking responsibility for cutting it and AT&T feels that they should not entail the cost of replacing it which would require a very long continuous bore. AT&T is thinking about abandoning this pedestal altogether. If they do, there is not another pedestal location anywhere close on the same side of the street; the only other option, if the pedestal is eliminated, is to run an overhead drop from a pedestal on the south side of the street at the apartments along the R.O.W. to where the conduits were stubbed out at the pedestal location that may go away. If the bore is done, AT&T is asking for permission from the Town to do it, but Chad said they are hesitant to bore due to all the ‘stuff’ that is in the ground. The controllers can work as stand alone units and will water just fine but without the phone services, ET calculated through our weather station at the Service Center can not be downloaded and utilized. I told Chad I would get back with him, What is your take? Parks Operations Manager Town of Addison Office: 972-450-2863 Fax: 972-450-2834
