Thank you Dave. From: David Wilde Sent: Thursday, November 18, 2010 1:31 PM To: Nancy Cline; Clay Barnett Subject: Spring Valley Rd 11/18/10 The subcontractors and NTC are out today setting up erosion control, and traffic control, as well as preparing to saw-cut the BOC on the north side. Josh said they would be leaving the sidewalk in place for now to provide ADA access to pedestrian traffic. We talked about a few things regarding scheduling etc. He told me that they will be locating the water line four (4) feet north of the plan location to allow them to get most of it in, in Phase 1. My observations at this point include: · The vertical panels being used in the center of the two-way traffic are not bi-directional. They are appropriate for EB traffic, but backwards for WB. A non-directional lane delineator post would be a better application for two-way adjacent traffic lanes. · There were no traffic zone speed limit or “Traffic Fines Double in Work Zone” signs at either end of the construction limits, Josh said they were not indicated on the plans. · The traffic signals at Vitruvian were still operational as of 12:30 today. Not a problem per-se, but still, I thought they were to be replaced with STOP signs. · The plans do not indicate a detail for what to do with the Glenwood Apts water service. It is currently coming off of the hydrant line. This is not a preferred situation. Any hydrant service requires the entire complex to be out of water. The plans merely show a hydrant relocation without any indication to separate the domestic service from the hydrant lead. This would require at least a valve or two, and possibly fittings such as a Tee and/or a 90. Josh said he would put in an RFI for clarification. · At Woodway, there is a significant crack in the pavement just outside the limits of removal at the NE radius of the intersection indicated on the plans. We may want to see about incorporating a slightly larger area to replace, that would remove this crack. That’s about it for now. David E.
