Brandon, good to hear from you! YES, I have heard the request to de-energize the signal. Being in the traffic business your self, I'm sure you have that lump in your throat as we do. Decommissioning a signal is a BIG thing! If that is what has to happen, then that is what we shall do. Does anyone even have recent traffic counts and speed data? I have nothing! I would highly suggest first of all, wait until after Thanksgiving since there will be unfamiliar drivers passing through (and how much work can the contractor do in a couple of days, really)? My other suggestion would be to place a changeable message sign there next week, alternating the direction, advising of the signal being turned off. We can then coordinate putting it in red flash for a few days with FLAGGED stop signs. Ultimately this is not my call, I am sending copies of this to my engineers Randy and Mike. It is my understanding that Randy has been in contact with your engineers ??? Keep me posted. Dave David Rounsley Traffic Signal Supervisor PO Box 819010 13000 William Dodson Pkwy.
