Ron, As you are aware, Public Works in conjunction with North Texas Contracting, Oncor Electric, DISD and all the other parties involved with the Spring Valley project have made every effort to insure that the Spring Valley Road was opened in time for the grand opening of the new George HW Bush Elementary School. When the site was walked on Monday of last week, the project was complete with the exception of a few minor items. The one exception in working with us to insure that the street was successfully completed was AT&T. We have attempted to have AT&T finish their work throughout the course of the project. However, they did not proceed with completing their work until Friday. When we returned to the site today to observe traffic patterns at the new school, we were shocked to witness the damage that had been caused by AT&T and their contractor over the weekend. The damage included a number of trenches that encompassed almost the entire length of the front of the school and damages to the street light and irrigation systems not to mention the removal of a substantial amount of landscaping in the area. Additionally, a gas main was hit resulting in the removal of a portion of the right turn lane into the school that will necessitate the removal of 50’ of the right turn lane and an inlet top in order to repair the damage. We wanted to bring to your attention that we are greatly disappointed that AT&T neglected to resolve this issue several months ago and instead choose to wait until school opened to begin construction. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks, Clay Barnett, P.E. Town Engineer Town of Addison 16801 Westgrove Drive Addison, TX 75001-2818 Office: (972) 450-2857
