Nancy, Mike and I talked after the Spring Valley meeting today and we both believe that NTC needs to re-think the drainage situation that their current plan will create. They are proposing that the existing drainage on the north side be removed and the new inlets installed but not connected to any outfall. We think they need to have at least the low point inlet near the Loos entrance functional prior to switching traffic to the north side lanes. NTC mentioned in the meeting using a pump at the low point location to relocate water to the still functional south side inlet. This might work during working hours, but if there is an overnight rain, there is a possibility that 5.5 inches of water could build up in that location and cause a hazard. If it is possible, it would be better if the low point inlet was functional prior to moving traffic to the north side. I think getting the concrete in on the north side first is still the way to go. We just need to make sure the drainage does not cause a problem between the time they switch traffic and when the new storm system is in place. Please let me know what you think.
