Clay, As I mentioned on the phone earlier, NTC will likely double the original temporary asphalt quantity shown on the schedule of values. This is due to some omissions on the plans or changes made prior to the start of the project. These include: additional pavement removed to the west of Woodway for the duct bank installation as well as the hydrant relocation, additional width to install the main water line in phase 1 of Spring Valley as mentioned in RFI #1, and the relocation of the gas line by Mastec from Vitruvian to the west side of the field house entrance. We will need to have two lanes for the traffic shift which I have at 11-feet for each lane for a total width of 22-feet. I have left as much concrete pavement in place to minimize the amount of temporary asphalt, but I still anticipate using 3600 sy of asphalt total (this would be an increase of 2100 sy over the bid quantity). Reynolds is to mobilize on Thursday to start this work so that we can remove the rest of the concrete pavement and start work on the utilities on the south half of the road. I wanted to bring this to your attention as this equates to approximately $100K in additional asphalt. I know that this would also need to go to council next month but I need to have something in order to proceed with this work on Thursday and Friday this week. I spoke to Dave in the field today so that he was aware of the issue as well. Please feel free to contact me to discuss if necessary.
