Lynn, Attached is the documents you forwarded with the plan submittal received yesterday afternoon. We will review the plan submittal and return comments today as was agreed to in our meeting at the first of the year. In regards to the pavement design, the geotechnical report provides a pavement section that was performed utilizing the FAARFIELD software and is in accordance with FAA Advisory Circular 150/5320-6E. The geotechnical report recommends a 9” pavement section over a 10” base. The letter that was received recommends a 7” pavement section over a 6” base. Additionally, the letter does not address anticipated aircraft loads nor does it address expected life spans. Finally, it does not state what standards were used to design the pavement section. I have attached a recap of our conversation on January 25, 2011 in which we discuss the importance of utilizing the FAA Advisory Circular for civil Airport paving guidelines and standards in the design of optional ramp paving specifications. In the absence of any additional data, the pavement design provided in the geotechnical report shall be utilized for the ramp area pavement. It is our goal to continue to work with you to make this a successful project. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thanks, Clay Barnett, P.E.
