Frank, I concur that 20 annual operations of a G-V is ludicrous given that we have been advised that Million Air has two G650s on order. Weight specifications for the G650 from Gulfstream's website are as follows: Weights Basic Operating 54,000 lbs / 24,494 kg Maximum Fuel 44,200 lbs / 20,049 kg Maximum Landing 83,500 lbs / 37,876 kg Maximum Payload 6,500 lbs / 2,948 kg Maximum Payload/Full fuel 1,800 lbs / 816 kg Maximum Ramp 100,000 lbs / 45,360 kg Maximum Takeoff 99,600 lbs / 45,179 kg Maximum Zero Fuel 60,500 lbs / 27,443 kg Weight specifications for the G500 (G-V) are: Weights Basic Operating 48,400 lbs / 21,773 kg Maximum Fuel 35,200 lbs / 15,967 kg Maximum Landing 75,300 lbs / 34,186 kg Maximum Payload 6,100 lbs / 2,948 kg Maximum Payload/Full fuel 2,300 lbs / 1,043 kg Maximum Ramp 85,500 lbs / 38,783 kg Maximum Takeoff 85,100 lbs / 38,601 kg Maximum Zero Fuel 54,500 lbs / 24,721 kg Mary Kay currently operates a G450 (N913MK, which is on Million Air’s Part 135 certificate along with some other good-sized aircraft ) which is a bit lighter (MTOW of 73,900 pounds) and I’m pretty certain that aircraft makes at least two trips per month. I can’t imagine they would spend $60 million a copy on bigger aircraft and not use them even once per month. Of course it is possible that they have just been blowing smoke about the G650s, but I don’t think so; they sounded very serious and sincere, and I had the impression – and again I could be mistaken – that the acquisition of those aircraft was a major factor in the decision to move ahead with developing the new hangar facility. A hangar that size could certainly accommodate that aircraft, and there is absolutely no reason to think it would not at some time in the not-too-distant future. It’s the same thing we told ExecHangar: if you build a hangar big enough to accommodate an aircraft that size, then someone will eventually put an aircraft that size in the hangar and the ramp will need to be built to support that. [end of sermon, thank you choir for your attention] Have a good weekend! Do you have test results from on-site soils to support using that k-value? Also, are you sure that a G-V will use the apron no more than 20 times per year for the next 20 years? That's less than half of the G-V operations planned for other recent developments at Addison Airport. In summary, the subgrade modulus and number of G-V operations seem too low. Please email me back with justification for the subgrade modulus and G-V operations used in the FAARFIELD calculation, or email a revised calculation to me.
