We need to discuss what remains to be done and who is responsible for each aspect of the remaining work. Considering what transpired this past week, we're overdue for a meeting. John, Jim, please infonn Ed Bell Construction of this meeting so that they can have someone in attendance too. Let me know if you can make Hor ifthis time is not convenient. Jeanne has a meeting in the moming, so an earlier time would not work. Jim, I also need a status report ASAP as to when the ditch will be reopened, Our crews are ready to make the connections this coming Sunday but only if it is opened before then. Also, Carramelica says we can do a clearance that day but they need to know soon for certain if we will be doing the work so they can notify their tenants. --􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀁾􀀭􀀮􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀮􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭............-----...-...---. ------------_. -.......... -....-----_.. -------_._-􀁾􀀮􀀠-_._--_._----..--.-----.-------.. ----_._-----_._---_._􀀭􀁾􀀮􀀠 􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀭􀀮􀁾􀀮􀀠 -----_._._--._._-_._---_._._-------_.--.__..__..•. _----_ .._------_._ ...•_-------------_.-..__ . 19993:03 PM Jeanne ,jimmy.fletcher@tu.com; kenny.martin@tu.com; binmon@tue.com Re: Arapaho Road Jim, From what I understand we couldn't do the work in the trench until prior work was completed and a clearance was coordinated with the Carramerica building. Bottom line is Ed Bell Const filled in a trench they didn't excavate and didn't confer with us before they did it. Whether it's 2 days or 2 months, that shouldn't be done. There are other options such as metal plates to cover it. Also, if the pile of dirt was covering where they needed to install the pull box they could have contacted us to remedy the situation. Our distribution department is not interested in taking on the cost of reexcavating the trench since we made all neccessary parties aware we would be beginning the remaining work on Seturday, June 5 at 11 :00 am. As it stands now, we are going to have to reschedule another clearance with Carramerica which is not going to make their tenants happy. We will probably also have to pay overtime to our crews since it will most likely be on a Sunday because Carramerica closed the building to some of their tenants last week. We will have a supervisor check the trench to make sure it meets our specifications. As you know, the signals are high priority. Ed Bell stated that that trench was open for over 2 months and TXU had adequate time to do whatever needed to be done in the trench. (The sidewalk was also in danger of being undermined). Therefore, Ed Bell states he will not reexcavate the trench. I think it best that TXU coordinate and control the whole operation and reexcavate the trench. as that way. the depth and location will better suit your needs, Ed Bell will not be at risk damaging your facilities and causing further delay. and the trench will be open for a minimum amount of time. Now we need the power lines moved from the old poles to the new poles, and the old poles removed .. This work needs to be done so that sidewalk construction can proceed. Right now, the contractor is being held up. Also, we will need our power supply at this intersection for street lights, pedestrian lights, traffic signals and irrigation controller. Power supplies will be needed soon at Edwin Lewis Drive and Addison Road for signals. Your attention to these matters will be most appreciated. Jim. I've left Bob messages indicating I haven' heard back from anyone. He hasn' retumed my calls either. nwouldn't offend me if they happened to hear from the Town of Addison too. We can do their clearance anytime. It doesn't have to coincide with the clearance for Summerfield Suites. These two cost estimates are as follows: (1) The intersection of Arapaho Road and Addison Road will require two manholes, two switchgears, and One duct bank from the southeast comer of Arapaho Road and Addison Road up to and past the east property line ofthe Southwestern Bell building. This will extend the underground facilities further from originally designed. Furthermore, this cost estimate includes the proper cost to set the new duct bank in solid rock as was discussed in our previous meeting. The approximate cost for this specific area is $165,940.00. (2) The existing Arapaho Road and Quorum Drive intersection will be the starting point for all distribution facilities heading north to be placed underground. 1n order for us to match the underground distribution facilities existing north ofthe Dart RIR Tracks, we will have to construct the same duct bank size. This design will requite two manholes, two street bores, one switchgear, one pull box, and the matching duct bank in solid rock. Once again this cost estimate will include a larger section of underground facilities to be constructed north of the existing Arapaho Road & Quorum Drive intersection. The approximate cost for this specific area is $285,722.00 Please call my office number at (214) 812-7812, so we may reschedule a new meeting date & time for us to review the construction sketches that I have prepared. Pierce, Jr., P.E., DEE Town of Addison 16801 Westgrove Drive Addison, Texas 75001-0144 HE: COST ESTIMATE FOR UNDERGROUND DISTRIBUTION FACILITIES ALONG ARAPAHO ROAD Dear Jim: In reference to the above mentioned subject, I have produced an estimate of approximately $96,000 which would be required from the Town of Addison in order to convert the existing overhead distribution facilities along the proposed Arapaho Road to an underground distribution system. Please be advised that this cost estimate will expire in 90 days. In addition to the $96,000 cost, there will be overtime charges involved in order to construct our underground distribution facilities while minimizing electrical outages for the customers within this specific area. These charges will be detennined on actual figures when the overtime work takes place. Furthermore, we will need the necessary right-of-way easements to be acquired by the Town of Addison for our new underground distribution facilities. Since this are area is projected to have growth in the near future, our Ft. Worth Planning Group has made a recommendation that we make the new underground desigu accommodate a 8E6 duct bank with manholes. In essence, this proposal from our planning group may affect the current construction plans of the proposed Arapaho Road. This recommendation was not considered as part of the estimated cost since it will be a betterment for TU Electric.
